Tristan Thompson

It’d be hard to trade Tristan Thompson right now, because he’s playing the best he ever has while wearing a Cavaliers uniform.

In his four years, Thompson was a superb role player, establishing himself as an offensive rebounding maven.

But this year, with no familiar faces in sight, Thompson’s taken it upon himself to step up and is averaging a double-double per night with 11.7 points and 11.5 rebounds.

Thompson makes a lot of money, so his contract won’t offer any new team salary relief. A trade partner is going to have to want Thompson for his skillset, which isn’t impossible.

Thompson’s a great player on a contender and his value really shines in the postseason when he provides that extra possession.

Thompson will earn $17.4 million this season and $18.5 million next year, the final year of his current contract.

The Cavs probably don’t want to trade him because he’s been the most consistent part of the team.

However, Thompson will not be a part of Cleveland’s future and it only makes sense to move him should another organization come calling.
