5. The Buckeyes have superior strength on their offense.

It’s been a season of greatness for the Buckeyes in many ways. It all started with sophomore quarterback Dwayne Haskins being one of the best success stories on this team.

He had a lot of hype behind him going into this season as many anticipated his rise in place of former four year starter J.T. Barrett. Things could just as easily went south for him during this season as there was a lot of hype surrounding very few appearances in the season prior.

Haskins ended up having a record breaking season as he now owns the single season passing and touchdown records at Ohio State and in the Big Ten. He threw for over 4,000 yards and more than 40 touchdowns. He also holds the records for most total offense in a season and total passing yards in a game.

His performances earned him first team All-Big Ten, the Graham-George Offensive Player of the Year award, and the Griese-Brees Quarterback of the Year award. To top it off, he was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy. He may not have won it, but he was the winner in everyone’s hearts.

This offense led by Haskins couldn’t have been so successful without its receivers though. It was expected that the duo of great running backs that the Buckeyes have in Mike Weber and J.K. Dobbins would be the big standouts this year but it was the receiving corps that ended up making the most noise.

However, it was more likely the great talent of Haskins’ arm that made this happen as well combined with quarterback coach Ryan Day and coordinator Kevin Wilson.

Senior receiver Parris Campbell had a major breakout season. This was not an enormous surprise considering he was a leader in receiving on the team last season with the second most receptions and the most receiving yards. He doubled last season’s reception total and had just under 1,000 yards. This was almost double the amount of yards he had as well as he led the team in yardage once again. His 11 receiving touchdowns is tied for most on the team.

Junior receiver K.J. Hill was a major factor in this offense once again in 2018. Last season, he led the team in receptions. Hill turned out yet another great season this time around as he caught even more passes and also made plays in key moments.

He caught the game winning touchdown in the tightly contested game at Penn State. Senior receiver Terry McLaurin was another key play maker for the Buckeyes this season. He caught a team leading 11 touchdowns and had the third most receiving yards on the team.

The Huskies will be hard pressed to guard all of those weapons in this match up. They rank ninth in the nation in total defense which fares well for them in this one.

The Huskies have had one of the most underrated defenses in the nation over the past few seasons. They’ve ranked in the top ten in total defense since 2016. Expect the Buckeyes too have too much for the Huskies’ defense to handle.
