3. Trayvon Mullen, CB

Our own Mike Graham recently thought about about mocking Trayvon Mullen with the 49th pick, but then Derrick Kindred was released, and safety Amani Hooker got the nod.

I think Mullen should still be in play. We’re talking about the defensive MVP from the national title game, where Clemson slugged Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide.

Researching Mullen, I’ve come to find out that he’s a pretty polarizing prospect. There are those who would make the case for him to go in the second round, while others would prefer to sit and wait for him in the fifth.

Ultimatley, Mullen’s ceiling is too great to pass up. He just doesn’t have the potential to become an NFL starter, he could become an impact player at the position.

Mel Kiper recently mocked Mullen to the Falcons with the 45th overall pick, while Todd McShay forecasted Mullen’s name being called with 50th pick–one pick after the Browns–by the Vikings.

Mullen is coming out early and really could’ve used another year in college, but in 26 starts the past two seasons, he totaled four interceptions and six passes defensed.
