Cleveland Browns: 5 veterans in danger of being cut after Training Camp
1. Seth DeValve
Seth DeValve’s roster status was recently covered by The Factory, and the competition will be tough for the 2016 draft choice. DeValve will go up against David Njoku, Demetrius Harris and Pharaoh Brown in Training camp.
The truth is DeValve played really well for the 0-16 Browns of 2017. That was two years ago and the Browns are a heck-of-a-lot better now. In that season, he caught 33 balls for 395 yards and a touchdown.
Some Monday Morning Quarterbacks wondered if DeValve was in danger of making the team last year. Injuries kept him out of camp while tight end Devon Cajuste became an unsung hero of camp.
DeValve staved off Cajuste, and went on to play in 12 games for last year’s squad, catching only 10 balls for 127 yards.
Former first rounder David Njoku is entering year three with big expectations. With a loaded Browns’ receiving corps running around the secondary, Njoku should be a big weapon.
Orson Wells is also a player to consider, because not only can he help as a blocking tight end, but he can work the fullback role, as well.
Harris has a connection with general manager John Dorsey dating back to his time with the Chiefs, while Brown is one of the under-the-radar players who’s gotten some run this offseason.
DeValve is entering the final year of his contract. He carries a cap hit of $815,849, according to Sportrac.
