Cleveland Browns: 5 veterans in danger of being cut after Training Camp
5. Britton Colquitt
As long as Jamie Gillan’s on the roster, Britton Colquitt‘s roster spot will remain in question, despite being one of the more consistent punters in the NFL.
Colquitt averaged 45.4 yards per punt lst season, landing32 of 83 punts inside the 20 yard line. That was the fifth-best mark in the AFC.
Gillan has the difficult task of taking the job from a good incumbent.
Gillan, known as the “Scottish Hammer,” played his college ball at Arkansas Pine-Bluff and averaged 42.4 yards per punt on 71 attempts. He landed 27 kicks inside the opposition’s 20-yard line.
If the Browns decide to get fiscally conservative over the position, they could cut Colquitt and avoid paying him $2.7 million.
Gillan on the other hand, will earn just $495,000, according to OvertheCap.com.
