Cleveland Browns preseason player rankings led by Baker Mayfield, OBJ
Players 11-15
11. Damarious Randall: The Browns’ free safety still doesn’t have an extension and if he gets through camp without a new deal, it’s probably a good bet he’ll test free agency. The Browns drafted a rookie, though, in Sheldrick Redwine, so the future of the position is on Dorsey’s radar.
12. David Njoku is poised for a breakout season as the enters his third year in the NFL. Njoku finished eighth in the NFL among tight ends, with 639 receiving yards. He’s going to see a lot single coverage, which should make Baker’s eyes pop.
13. J.C. Tretter: He’s durable and willing to play through injury. He brings a toughness to the franchise the organization has lacked for the better part of two decades.
14. Sheldon Richadson: The trades for Vernon and OBJ took the headlines while Richardson’s signing quickly became an afterthought.
The Browns needed to add someone to play alongside Ogunjobi because Trevo Coley just wasn’t getting it done. Richardson can get to the quarterback, but that doesn’t have to be No. 1 job function. If he gets five sacks but helps stops the run, then I think his addition will have been well worth it.
15. Joe Schobert: The Browns’ linebacker was seventh in my final season rankings, so his spot at No. 12 says a couple of things: Mainly, the Browns have more talent, so Schobert drops down. Secondly, I probably overrated him in the final rankings. He led the NFL in missed tackles a season ago, but he’s still value to the Browns as “the quarterback of the defense.”
