3. Antonio Callaway, WR

OK, the point was just made that Pro Football Talk’s post on Rashard Higgins passing Antonio Callaway on the depth chart turned out to be on point…so far.

But reports on the morning of the preseason opener had Antonio Callaway falling behind Derrick Willies!

Callaway did enough to squash those reports, because he played really well. He should’ve been given a touchdown on the ugly fade Drew Stanton threw in the first quarter.

He had to settle for 42 yards on three catches on seven targets. But those targets stood out. The guy gets open and don’t forget, he possesses home-run potential.

Now about that Pro Football Talk report…yes, Higgins looks deserving of being No. 3 on the depth chart, but don’t forget the two players offer two different skill sets.

Higgins isn’t the deep threat Callaway is, but can catch passes in traffic, evidenced by his touchdown reception. Callaway can stretch the field, but can also turn a five-yard drag route into a big game, in addition the threat he poses going over the top.
