The right guard spot appears like it’s Eric Kush‘s spot to lose. With that said, the position seems more unstable than ever. Drew Forbes has been got some reps with the first team, so now you’ve got to wonder if he can do enough with what’s left of the Training Camp to make a play for serious playing time.

With that said, Kush does have a beat on the gig, no matter what coach Freddie Kitchens says. The veteran is about to make his second start.

A solid performance may help the team name him the starter moving forward, which will afford the offensive line some time to build some chemistry ahead of the Week 1 opener against the Titans.

Austin Corbett seemed like a shoe-in for the starting spot, but has obviously not met the Browns expectation. He’s better suited for backup center duties. Is he a bust? No. His time will come, perhaps as early as next season. With J.C. Tretter due to be a free agent at season’s end, Corbett would be a cheap replacement at center.

St. Edward product Kyle Kalis competed for the job as well, but has been out of the running after suffering a concussion in the preseason opener.

Keep an eye on Forbes though. The Browns were lauded for unearthing Sports Illustrated “Prospect X” in the sixth-round of the draft. Diehard draftniks love Forbes, and as a sixth-round pick getting first-team reps in his first camp, the guy obviously has talent.
