Cleveland Browns: 5 Browns who need great games vs Colts
Greedy Williams
I thought Sheldrick Redwine was responsible for the blown coverage against Washington, but the Browns’ defensive backs coach Dewayne Walker said Greedy Williams needed to run with the receiver.
Now that Williams has gotten his feet wet a little, let’s see if he can have a more complete game.
He had an interception in the preseason opener, and the way he tackles makes you wonder what the heck evaluators were talking about who said he couldn’t tackle leading up to the draft.
Williams is still fighting for a starting corner back spot against Terrance Mitchell. The veteran is having a strong camp as he works to stave off the LSU product.
This is hotly contest job up for grabs, because losing will mean a loss in playing time for the loser. Originally, I thought Greedy and Money Mitchell could be on the field at the same time, along with Denzel Ward, especially with teams running three-receiver sets.
However, Walker nixed that idea, indicating moving either one of those two players inside was not an option.
Mitchell forced a fumble in the preseason opener and looks as hungry as ever for the job. He worked his way into the Dawg Pound’s consciousness with his tenacious work ethic during last year’s Training Camp.
With HBO’s “Hard Knocks” camera’s watching, Mitchell irritated Jarvis Landry with his high intensity play.
Mitchell plays every down like it’s his last, and while Greedy is the future, you’ve got to respect Mitchell’s fight.
