3. Rashard Higgins, WR
If OBJ and Jarvis Landry didn’t have to play, why did Rashard Higgins? He was the offensive MVP in preseason week 1 and the veteran clearly has the No. 3 spot locked up.
OK, someone’s got to catch the ball because Kitchens can’t give everyone the night off, but it did make me wonder about the first-year head coach giving the night off to every skill position player considered to be a star (with the exception of Stanton).
I’m as excited about the the 2019 Browns as anyone. But I also try to remember that this team was 7-8-1 a year ago and has a rookie head coach. Their best receiver has missed 16 games the past two years.
These Browns have expectations but have actually done nothing.
Sheldon Richardson had a close call but seems to have avoided injury, I guess my point is, will the way Freddie treats players rumple feathers in the locker room?
Yes, these games mean nothing and no one will remember who played in this meaningless exhibition once the regular season gets rolling.
But if OBJ isn’t up to par, while Higgins soars, you can bet the media will make it an issue.
As for Higgins, he was Gilbert’s go-to-receiver when the AAF product needed bailed out. He only had four catches for 34 yards, but those receptions kept the chains moving. For someone like Gilbert, who is fighting for a job, having Higgins out there was invaluable.
