Cleveland Browns: 7 Browns on roster bubble ahead of Buccaneers game
7. Seibert
Saved the worst for last, because who wants to talk about this anymore? Somebody, anybody…win the job already!
Incumbent Greg Joseph appears to have the slight edge over rookie Austin Seibert, but that could change tomorrow.
Browns fans have been relegated to reading about every drink off the field goal post and kick attempted at practice, which to me, serves no purpose. They’ve been at this for a month now and we know what they are: Unreliable.
The Browns are going to be looking for kickers once cuts go down, but so will other teams. The Chicago Bears, for example, are in big need of a kicker.
Prediction: Unless they bring in someone else, look for Joseph to keep his job and Dorsey has to swallow the pill of blowing a fifth-rounder on Seibert.
This isn’t to say the kicking situation is solved, because there will be misses during the season. But at least Joseph has kicked in real NFL games. There’s always the hope that once he has the job, he’ll start to get a little more confidence rolling.
If he starts costing the Browns games though, don’t blame the kicker. Blame Dorsey for failing to get players who can do the job.
