Cleveland Browns: 5 players who need a great Week 1 game vs Titans

3. Olivier Vernon
The Browns traded away one of the most efficient pass blockers in the league last offseason in the massive trade for OBJ.
But before OBJ entered the trade discussion, Browns’ general mater John Dorsey was content to flip Kevin Zeitler straight up for EDGE rusher Olivier Vernon.
Now, the offensive line is worse than it was a season ago, but it might be OK enough that the Browns bend but don’t break.
Meanwhile, the defensive line might be the biggest strength of the team. The Browns look poised to put up crazy sack numbers.
Vernon needs a great game against the Titans because Tennessee will be paying a lot of attention to Myles Garrett. Tennessee is without its starting left tackle Taylor Lewan, who is suspended for four games.
Tennessee will have to slide some extra protection over to help deal with Garrett while also using tight ends to chip him at the line of scrimmage. This should open things up for Vernon, who looked like a beast against Tampa in preseason Week 3.
Vernon has only recorded double-digit sack numbers just once in his career and that was his second season in the league. It’s not unreasonable to think he can touch 10.0 quarterback takedowns playing opposite of Garrett.
A good game against the Titans should see him on his way to achieving that figure.
