1. Baker Mayfield

It’s not easy to Baker Mayfield on this list, because we all think he’s going to be the one to lead the Browns to the promised land.

Unfortunately, Mayfield turned in another uneven effort against a Jets defense that was decimated by the loss of star linebacker C.J. Mosley.

Mayfield’s 325 passing yards were inflated by by the 89 yard catch and run by Odell Beckham Jr. on a 10-yard slant in the second half. It was a heckuva play, but it was all Odell, whose speed eclipsed 23 miles per hour on the run to the end zone.

On the first drive of the game, Mayfield threw a perfect pass to OBJ along the sideline, and Beckham made a one handed grab, making for one of the best catches you’ll ever see.

But he also missed some passes that should’ve been completed.

Pro Football Focus said he held onto the ball too long for the second straight week, which forced some quarterback pressures. Mayfield was sacked six times, but the Jets also had six quarterback hits.

On the night, Mayfield was 19-of-35 for 325 yards, a touchdown, interception and a final passer rating of 83.6.

He was 11 of 23 for 162 yards and no touchdowns in the first half, making for a passer rating of 71.3

In the first half, Mayfield  was 11-of-23 for 162 yards, no touchdowns and a passer rating of 71.3. He uncharacteristically had a few passes tipped at the line of scrimmage.

This doesn’t change anything. Baker is the present and future, but after a horrific Week 1 in which he threw three interceptions in the fourth quarter, Mayfield followed up with an uneven effort against a team that is not great.
