The Browns are getting noting from their third receiver, and they’d like too. One week after Damion Ratley turned in a dud of a game, Kitchens seemed intent on getting Antonio Callaway involved on a major scale.

Keep in mind, though, Callaway hasn’t played in eight weeks. He nursed a ankle sprain for most of the preseason and then was suspended for the first games of the season.

The ball he dropped inside the red zone, that flung into the air and was intercepted by K’Waun Williams was the turning point in the game. If he catches that, the Browns are in it, trailing 14-10. Instead, the 49ers cashed Williams’ pick into seven points and took a 21-3 lead.

When you care 14-point swings that don’t go in your team’s favor, you’re going to find your name on this list every week.

Callaway was thrust into action because Rashard Higgins is still nursing a knee injury. He was limited in practice during the week, but when it came time for the game, he was inactive.

The only week he didn’t practice was leading up to the Week 4 win against the Ravens. Every other week, he’s at least been limited. That basically means he’s been stretching.

Higgins is missed because he flashed chemistry with Mayfield and he’s better than anyone the Browns have at this point at the third receiver spot.

On paper, the Browns are loaded with talent, but the truth is they have little margin for error and the mistakes coming from the third receiver position are mounting up.
