2. Stefanski and Berry
The marriage of Kevin Stefanski and Andrew Berry was another opinion of PFN’s Ben Allbright, and the union makes sense, considering Paul DePodesta possesses the top voice (of anyone who is not an owner) in the coaching search.
It’s no secret Stefanski was his choice to be named coach last off season, while Berry worked in the front office when the Browns started to heavily lean on analytics with the hiring of Sashi Brown and DePodesta.
Berry, who works for the Eagles, has seen his stock rise as a GM candidate. If DePodesta wanted to advocate for a high who he knows, then this certainly makes a ton of sense.
Throw in Stefanski, whom he lobbied for a season ago, and it becomes obvious.
We’ll never know how Stefanski would’ve performed had he gotten the gig to coach the Browns because he was just as unproven as Kitchens. With that said, he just seems a little more seasoned, and he’s proving it with what he’s doing with the Vikings.
This might be the toughest sell to the fan base, because no season ticket holder has forgotten how analytics delivered a 1-31 mark between 2016-2017. The current roster has a lot more talent than those teams did, so Stefanski and Berry would have to put their offices together and get ready to win.
