Guardians vs. Renegades

New York put up big scores in their 30-12 victory over Dallas. The Guardians are now 3-2, having won two in a row after the benching of former starting quarterback Matt McGloin. With the team’s back to back wins, and key losses to D.C. and St. Louis, the team is now back in contention for the playoffs. The Guardians are the closest thing to the Steel Curtain or Tampa 2 the XFL has to offer, lead by their impressive defense that once again stood up and passed the test of another high powered offense.

NY – WR Colby Pearson

Colby Pearson is stepping up for replacement quarterback Luis Perez, as he became a thorn in the side of Dallas. He caught five passes, for 95 yards and a touchdown, while breaking off an 80-yard reception.

NY – LB Ben Henney

Ben Heeney continues to be the heart and soul of this Guardians’ defense and is their most consistent player on that side of the ball. Another seven total tackles, while replacement Renegade quarterback Philip Nelson a big ‘ol hit from the Guardians’ leader. Henney should be on the Browns radar, alongside the Dragons’ Johnson.

NY – DT Cavon Walker

The Guardians have had a rotating spotlight on the defensive line all year and this week was Cavon Walker who stepped up in a big way and had two sacks, four quarterback hits, and a whopping five total tackles. Hopefully, Walker can string together some more performances like this in the second half of the season.

Notes: Dallas lacked the big play arm of Landry Jones and it showed. With the terrible western conference, the team still has a show to get the 2nd playoff spot.
