Cleveland Browns: 3 expectations for Week 1 vs Ravens
1. 20 touches for Chubb, 12 for Hunt
The dream of fans around Browns Town is to use Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt in the same backfield at the same time. And no, not with one just leading blocking for the other. The Browns could dial up several plays to make opposing defensive coordinators sweat.
Alas, it doesn’t sound like the dream will come to fruition. An offseason and preseason interrupted by the pandemic hasn’t afforded the Browns the opportunity to implement this strategy as a part of their week-to-week game plan, according to ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi.
Fans were eager to see this a season ago under Freddie Kitchens, but not getting Hunt until after he served an eight-game suspension may have hampered the implementation, according to Grossi.
Instead, the Browns will likely rely on Chubb as the feature back, getting 20 touches in Week 1, while Hunt should see 10-12 balls come his way.
Ideally, Chubb runs over the Ravens for 250 yards. Realistically, he comes close to 100 yards rushing while Hunt cashes in a couple of his touches for big gains.
