5 Cleveland Browns whose stocks are down in Week 2 Bengals win
2. B.J. Goodson
Sticking with the linebacking corps, B.J. Goodson is the next man up to face criticism on the stock down report.
Most notably, Goodson was a dud in coverage. Remember how Joe Burrow kept drives alive with short passes, time and time again? Goodson was responsible for allowing seven catches on 55 yards, according to PFF (subscription).
To make matters worse, his run defense was the worst on the team, drawing a mark of 44.3 from PFF. He had a 49.3 grade for the entire game. For what it’s worth, 59.0 is replace, so 49.3?! Yikes.
See the aforementioned commentary about the state of the Browns’ linebacking corps under the Sione Takitaki blurb.
While watching the hot mess unfold, I can’t help but think about Clay Matthews III, sitting at home doing nothing. No, he wouldn’t be one of the game’s elite player, but he’d be a lot better than what the Browns are trotting out there.
Analytics don’t like players over 30, but Cleveland’s desperate. Plus, just imagine how the move would invigorate the fan base. It can’t cost all that much money, and as we know, the Browns are always the leaders in cap space.
