5. James Harrison

To Pittsburgh fans, James Harrison is known for his size and speed and for having five good seasons as a Pittsburgh Steeler. Sure, it took him five years to actually get on the field after not being drafted at all, and sure his dominance came out of nowhere, leading many to wonder why. Sure, he won’t go down as a Top 10 Steeler great either but yeah, Harrison was a good player. In his five seasons of Pro Bowl play, he had 55.5 sacks. Not bad.

Myles Garrett in three and a half seasons has 36.5 but you know, not bad, Steelers. Not bad.

So why does Harrison make the list? There are plenty of better players than Harrison, and more legendary ones like Troy Polamalu who deserve to be on this list but guys like Polamalu were decent men.

Harrison was not, and instead known for his headhunting tactics and overall dirty play. The biggest example of his lack of humanity and ethics came when he hit Mohamed Massaquoi with a helmet to helmet hit (which were banned by that time) and Harrison received a $75.000 fine. After the play, Harrison bragged that long-time Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin awarded Harrison an envelope full of something; many believing it to be bounty money. What makes Harrison’s hit on Massaquoi even more disgusting his view on it after the fact.

"On everything I love, on my daddy’s grave, I hit that man with about 50% of what I had and I just hit him because I wanted him to let loose of the ball. If I had knew they was gonna fine me $75,000, I would have tried to kill him."

He and Garrett should really have a conversation or two. Helmets optional.
