Browns: 4 reasons Cleveland will flatten Philly in Week 11
1. Wentz stock down
The 2016 season is when analytics put its imprint on the Cleveland Browns. Sashi Brown and Paul DePodesta’s first big move? Trade out of No.2, move down to 15 and collect a bunch of other picks in the process.
Mission accomplished, except the Browns picked Corey Coleman, who was off the team by 2018.
Meanwhile, Wentz looked like he’d make the Browns rue the day they passed him bye. He beat Cleveland in his rookie season, and then had the Eagles charging toward the Super Bowl the next season until an injury.
He’s dealt with other injuries, but is back full time now, and the results are bad. He’s trending toward career lows in completion percentage (58.2), yards per attempt (6.1) interceptions (12) and passer rating (73.1).
And those 12 picks? He leads the league in the category.
With the game in Cleveland and Wentz trending the wrong way, the Browns defense should be able to come up with a couple plays that can help turn the tide of the game.
