6 Browns whose stock is booming after edging Eagles Week 11
3. Denzel Ward
If Browns corner Denzel Ward isn’t considered one of the elite defensive backs in the game, he should be, and this game is proof.
Pro Football Focus called this contest one of the greatest games of Ward’s career.
Ward was targeted 10 times while only allowing four receptions for 27 yards. He intercepted a pass toward the end of the game and deflected two others. He also brought the pressure on Carson Wentz that set the wheels in motion for Sione Takitaki’s pick-6.
The Browns secondary has mostly been a disaster because of what’s transpired at the safety position, in addition to the other corner spot.
No one could have envisioned that Grant Delpit and (probably) Greedy Williams would be lost for the season.
That said, Ward gives the Browns a playmaker in the defensive backfield who can alter the course of a game.
