6 Browns whose stock is booming after edging Eagles Week 11
4. Nick Chubb
Nick Chubb’s 54-yard run run was the offensive highlight of the game. Watch it in slow motion, turn up the NFL Films music, and tell me it doesn’t conjure up Jim Brown’s highlight reel in which he’s stiff arming would-be tacklers and bouncing off defenders like a pinball.
It may be sacrilege to compare Nick Chubb to Jim Brown, and obviously, No. 24 has a long way to go to even be mentioned in the conversation with No. 32, but it’s fun to talk about and Chubb is making things interesting.
For example, Jim Brown was 27 and in his seventh season when topped the 6.0 yards per carry mark. He averaged 6.4 yards per attempt in 1963.
Chub, who is in his third year, is averaging 6.1 yards per attempt.
Additionally, Brown averaged over 5.0 yards per attempt in each campaign came between1963-1965–his final year. Chubb can match that mark at season’s end if he stays over 5.0 yards per carry.
With Chubb’s 54-yard run, he eclipsed the 3,000-yard rushing mark, according to the Browns. Brown finished with 12,312 yards.
