The Conclusion

The Browns had a great year, but a disappointing finish. The football gods even made it so Patrick Mahomes got hurt (but thankfully he is ok), and the Browns still couldn’t get off the field when Chad Henne took over. This means one of two things. Either 1) Joe Woods is bad at his job, or 2) Andrew Berry is bad at his.

The defense hadn’t gotten better all year. The pass rush was terrible for most of the year. Moves were not made, despite Berry claiming there would be all year long, as needed. Either Berry thought he got good players or Woods really thought not being aggressive would work; when it hadn’t 17 other times.

The defense needs to be fully re-worked, with only a handful of guys coming back.

I’d be remiss though if we didn’t put over the team a little bit. While emotions are raw, what the offense did this year was impressive. Especially through all the adversity. Baker Mayfield proved himself to be the answer at quarterback, while the Browns had their best offensive line of maybe all time. Even the culture of the team was absolutely re-worked.

There’s a lot of issues this team needs to work on but thankfully the core of the team, the work ethic, and the drive that defines this team are finally right. That’s one hole the team doesn’t need to worry about.

Someone on Twitter said it, and I’m gonna steal it, but the playoffs are no longer a hope, they’re an expectation.
