The Cavaliers have officially come back from break and with one half of the season in the books, it’s time to see what Cavs players stood out.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have officially started the second half of their season. It’s been up and down for the most part through the first 36 games but it’s become clear that for the Cavs, this is a rebuilding year. It didn’t start out that way, the Cavs and Knicks were shocking everyone with their defensive prowess, then the Cavs fell apart.

Yet, somehow, the Knicks didn’t.

So here we are, evaluating the first half of the season and wondering where it all went wrong.

J.B. Bickerstaff has done an admirable job so far. He just doesn’t have the talent around him to be successful yet. The team has a lot of half-players. Guys who do half of the game really well. What they need are genuine two-way players but that is a rare breed these days.

Luckily though, despite leaving the first half 14-22, the Cavs do seem to be improved from the year before, and there is far more potential here than previously expected. It’s now all about finding out what pieces are missing, who’s really the right fit for Bickerstaff’s vision, and making sure everything comes together in one playoff-flavored melting pot.
