4. Scott Moss

I needed to pick a fourth player, so Scott Moss is the choice–and this wasn’t easy because I’m usually banging the drum in support of the lefty. Ideally, he would’ve been more in the mix for the fifth starter’s gig. He was supposed to be, at least. Instead, he’s already been reassigned.

The southpaw was experiencing neck tightness last Thursday just before he was sent down, so hopefully he can get healthy, because he’ll likely be needed.

With the Indians expected to take it easy on their regular starters, it’s expected spot starts will be needed form the likes of Adam Plutko, Logan Allen, Cal Quantrill and Moss.

As for when Moss was on the field, he only threw five innings, while making just one start. In total, he had surrendered seven hits while issuing two walks.

As just covered when talking about Quantrill, Allen is clearly the pitcher who’s emerged in Goodyear. Factor in Plutko not having any minor-league options left, and the Indians have pretty much figured out the back-end of the rotation/spot starter situation.

It’ll be interesting to see where Moss goes from here because the Triple-A season will be delayed by a month, due to the Pandemic.
