Zaven Collins DE/OLB, Tulsa

Zaven Collins is someone that is projected to be able to play off or on the line of scrimmage. That’s helpful for the Browns. Now, too many people try to act like a football player can’t change positions, learn new skills, or adapt to new situations. They also like to presume that a coach wouldn’t be able to get the most out of a player, simply because they didn’t have anyone like him the year before. In the heart of hearts, it’s very clear that if Collins falls to the Browns, that he’d be a good fit. After all, he’s just like Olivier Vernon.

Height, weight, speed, strength; Collins is the next version of Vernon.

Now, will Collins fall to the Browns? There’s a chance he could. Todd McShay had him going at 32 overall, but there are people who also think he could go in the middle to late first round. So there’s a chance Collins doesn’t even get to the Browns. There’s a chance the Browns aren’t high on him. There’s a chance the Browns could trade up to get him. Who knows? No one does, it’s all presumption. No one knows who’s going to be good, or who’s a can’t miss talent. It’s all guys doing the best they can to guess.

Collins, on paper, fills a need. His versatility and ability to play multiple positions make him a defensive coach’s dream come true. Now, all he has to do is actually play up to the expectations and we’re good.
