3. Monty Rice, Georgia
Like Pete Werner, Monty Rice is another player who makes up for his lack of athletic ability with other traits. As NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein pointed out, the Georgia product just always had a knack for finding the football in-between tackles while patrolling the inside for the Bulldogs.
Rice played through a foot injury last season and still played in all of Georgia’s nine games.
His NFL.com draft profile also notes how he’s capable in man-to-man coverage, but he’s probably a better bet to play on early downs against the run.
Interestingly, Zierlein compared Rice to Anthony Walker, a player the Browns just signed in free agency.
Knowing that, Cleveland certainly likes the type, so this will be a name to remember on day 3.
