Battle: Greedy Williams vs Greg Newsome

The battle for starting cornerback will be one of the highest profile position battles of the pre-season workouts and training camp.

Greg Newsome will compete with Greedy Williams to start on the outside opposite of Denzel Ward.

Newsome certainly has the edge, because I don’t think even the Browns know what they’ll get from Williams once the helmet and pats are put back on. Perhaps he’ll be good to go and he’ll impress.

My guess is that Newsome will emerge as the starter, though, and that’s fine. It’s been a long time since Williams has played and getting him back up to speed should be a paramount concern, because as we all saw last season, you can never have enough help in the defensive backfield.
