Battle: Up for grabs

This is a position group that’s truly up for grabs, as both starters from a season ago are no longer with the franchise (Larry Ogunjobi and Sheldon Richardson).

Training Camp is really where it’s going to play out. I see four defensive tackles being carried on the roster, and the big names are Jordan Elliott, Andrew Billings, Malik Jackson, Tommy Togiai and new signee Malik McDowell.

McDowell has the talent, but can he stay out of trouble? Is Elliott ready for more time? What about Billings after a year off? Can Togiai impress from day one? It’s certainly possible. Lots and lots of questions and only Father Time has the answer.

If pressed, my guess is that only one of the Maliks make the final roster. Both are veterans and not much is invested in either.

I don’t see Berry giving up on any of his draft picks or Billings, considering he hasn’t even played yet.
