Devonte’ Graham

Devonte’ Graham seems to be on the outs in Charlotte. The Hornets have a new franchise star LaMelo Ball and are going to have a hard time moving on from Terry Rozier. So that means the Hornets may in fact let Graham get claimed by another team, depending on how much he’s offered. Graham isn’t a great defensive option for the Cavs system but Cleveland has more problems than just that side of the ball.

Graham would easily help the Cavs with their bench scoring issues. He’s averaged close to nine three-point attempts per game over the last two years and is hitting at a clip of 36%. Sure, he’s not Kyle Korver or prime J.J. Reddick but those are solid enough stats to get the Cavs interested; hopefully.

Graham can be a player that defines the Cavs’ upcoming few seasons with his score-first mentality. His inclusion into this Cavs team would give Cleveland a bonafide 15-point per game scorer on the bench, allowing them to run Collin Sexton or Graham at any point in the game as the primary scorer.

That alone will make the Cavs a tough out. Much like with Lonzo Ball, the Hornets should be expected to match any offer that the Cavs would make, but if they do in fact decide to cut costs at the position, and make moves to improve the team around Lonzo’s brother LaMelo, then the Cavs would be wise to go in on the 26-year-old.
