That Kirk Cousins is on par with Case Keenum

"When you look at Kevin Stefanski’s track record, they won in Minnesota with Case Keenum. They won with Kirk Cousins."

This is actually two lies. First, that was “Kevin Stefanski won with Case Keenum.” He didn’t. It was Pat Shurmur who won with Keenum. Yes, Stefanski coached Keenum, but he didn’t call plays for him. He didn’t direct him like an offensive coordinator or a head coach does. His impact was marginal compared to the others.

The second lie was that Keenum, a below-average starter, is on the same par as a top 10 NFL quarterback. A top ten quarterback for multiple years in a row. Don’t confuse Kirk Cousins’ awful contract as meaning that he isn’t a top 10 quarterback. He is. His contract is rat-garbage, no doubt about it, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that since his days in Washington, that he’s been one of the better quarterbacks consistently.

Remember, he didn’t play in Minnesota when he got the big contract. He got the big contract because of what he did in Washington. Where he played very well. Stefanski didn’t just magically turn Cousins from a no-one into a someone. That’s not what happened.

In fact, when Stefanski took over the Vikings, Cousins’ stats fell.
