Aaron Civale

Aaron Civale leads all AL pitchers with 10 wins on the season, as well as being tied with two others in the NL to hold the lead across the Major Leagues. Civale is someone that many had high hopes for, and he’s more than lived up to the hype. Not so arguably, Civale has been the Tribe’s second-best pitcher all year, even when Zach Plesac was healthy.

While he gives up a few more home runs (14) more than Bieber (11), he’s able to keep pace with Bieber in every other category save for strikeouts. He’s looking up at a difference of 54 strikeouts, so while Civale isn’t bad, he’s not on Bieber’s level.

Though who is?

His injury may have been part of the reason the team started losing games at a consistent rate. Without him in the lineup, the Tribe is severely stretched thin in the starting rotation. Even before he got hurt that was already a problem but at least with him starting once a week on average, the Tribe at least had an impact player to start a game.

Now that he’s gone, the Tribe is struggling. While he can only impact the team every fifth game, it’s clear that Civale was a huge part as to why the team was successful without Plesac and Bieber.
