The Cleveland Indians have been blessed with a terrific bullpen this season, and James Karinchak has emerged as the alpha dog.

Emmanuel Clase may lead the team in saves (11) and he throws 100 miles per hour, but when the money’s on the line, Tito should go with Karinchak. He possesses the ability to strike out the side, as we’ve seen him do in extra innings this season.

To have someone capable of striking out the side in any given inning, well, even using the word invaluable doesn’t seem to do it justice.

This isn’t to disparage Clase. He’ll be a part of the pen for years to come. That said, for as fast as he throws, he doesn’t ring batters up like you think he would. He’s fanning 10.2 batters per nine innings. Compare that to Karinchak, who’s whiffing 15.6 batters per nine innings.
