Granted, this is a cop-out, because Johnny Stanton actually can play a variety of positions, so it’s not a hard thought to see him go both ways. During his time at UNLV, Stanton played quarterback and yes, linebacker. He split quarterback duties with Armani Rogers, so he wasn’t playing both ways in the same games but he had the ability to do just that.

Stanton’s football skills have been proven adaptable over the years and could play a variety of positions given time and training. He’s already proven he can play fullback, tight end, linebacker, and while not an ideal fit, quarterback.

This is another guy who has nearly the same measurables as Browns’ safety John Johnson. Stanton has a 4.7 40-time, with a 37” vertical leap, all while weighing in at 250 lbs. To say he’d fit well in Joe Woods’ defense may be an understatement and with how bad the linebackers have been and are expected to be, the idea of Stanton continuing his journey to that position could possibly happen.

Stanton is someone to keep an eye on because he’s the prototypical version of a football player. Someone who’s athletic but not beholden to just one positional skill set. We should all be rooting for him to make the team, be it as a fullback, tight end, quarterback or linebacker.

Heck, have we ruled out that he can’t kick field goals?
