6 Cleveland Browns whose stock is up after preseason win vs Jaguars
6. Cleveland Browns DE Joe Jackson
The Browns are looking for rotational pieces on the defensive line and end Joe Jackson put some nice film together for his bosses to review.
Most notably, Jackson stopped a 3rd down run play by flaying off the edge and making the initial contact on the ball carrier. He didn’t get the tackle, but his contact slowed the play enough for Malcom Smith and Jordan Elliott to stop the play cold.
Next, while we’re ready to put JOK into the HOF for his first-half sack, go back and watch the tape: It was Jackson who made it possible by getting a hand on Gardner Minshew’s shoulder. The hesitation paved the way for JOK to clean up Jacksonville’s mess.
Jackson was a fifth-round pick of the Cowboys in 2019. He saw very little action as a rookie and was waived after the team signed other players the following the season.
He caught on with the Browns in 2020 and appeared in three games, totaling five total tackles.
The Browns are looking for depth at defensive end behind Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney. Porter Gustin scored a sack, but Jackson made an impact as well.
