Cleveland Indians SP Cal Quantrill

With the injuries to the starting rotation, Cleveland’s playoff hopes finally flatlined a while back. It was amazing the team was able to stay in it that long, it’s also surprising their still flirting with .500.

One of those reasons is Cal Quanrill, who has really taken a step forward in his career.

The Padres basically pronounced his career as a starter dead, thinking he would be more viable as a reliever.

But “Pitching U” got ahold of him, and it looks like Cleveland’s investment is paying off. In his last seven starts, Quantrill owns a 1.76 ERA. For the year, the 26-year-old is 3-2 with a 3.24 ERA.

With Logan Allen, acquired in the Franmil Reyes trade, taking a step back in 2021, along with Scott Moss struggling to come back from injuries, Quantrill’s emergence as a starter has been a blessing.
