2. Got right: Running the ball
After a pass-heavy preseason opener, Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski leaned on his running backs more with great results.
• Demetric Felton: His potential as a receiver has us all excited, but it was strange he didn’t log a rushing attempt against the Jaguars. He carried the ball eight times for 25 yards, with his longest rush going for six. Looked impressive making a man miss.
• D’Ernest Johnson had four rushes for 36 yards, including a long of 18. I’m beginning to think his roster spot is safe–and that includes Felton making the roster. Johnson’s ability to block in the backfield cannot be forgotten.
• John Kelley had the team’s lone rushing touchdown, coming in the third quarter. On the drive, he looked excellent. I don’t see he makes the Browns, but I would think another team out there will be interested.
Kelley led the Browns with nine carries for 58 yards.
