4 things Cleveland Browns got right vs Falcons in preseason finale
4. Got right: We know the kicker isn’t good from 57
All eyes were on Chase McLaughlin on the final play of the first half, a 57-yard field goal attempt. Unfortunately, he missed, with the kick coming up just short, bouncing off the cross bar.
Of course, trying the kick was the right thing to do because the Browns need to find out if they have a kicker. There’s going to be a time when the Browns are going to need a 57-yarder and having that in the arsenal could be the difference between ending your season, or advancing to the next round of the playoffs.
There couldn’t have been better conditions for McLaughlin, as the stadium’s environment was controlled and the fan base wasn’t exactly losing their minds watching the lifeless Falcons.
It would’ve been nice if the Browns ran another play to get McLaughlin to 53 yards, but in a real game, that’s just not how things might shake out.
The Ravens have a backup kicker Cleveland should jump at the chance to acquire name Jake Verity. The question is, will he be traded?I don’t see Baltimore gifting Cleveland a kicker.
But if he’s cut, the Browns need to make serious run
