One of the few notable items to parse on the release of the Week 1 depth chart was corner Greg Newsome winning the starting cornerback role opposite of Denzel Ward.

A good preseason mixd with another injury riddled training camp for Greedy Williams cleared the way for the first-round pick to win the job.

It’s for the best Newsome is starting now, as his ceiling is higher in Williams, but as a rookie, there’s going to be mistakes and Andre Reid and Patrick Mahomes will undoubtedly try to expose the rookie often in the passing game.

If Newsome can hold his own, he may give the Browns re-vamped secondary a chance.

It’s going to be one of the more intriguing storylines of the game, watching Ward, Newsome, Troy Hill, Williams, John Johnson and Ronnie Harrison try to slow down the Chiefs’ high powered offense.

The rookie’s going to have to get up to speed–and fast–if he’s not going to be exposed all day.
