5. Cleveland Browns K Chase McLaughlin

You just keep thinking Cleveland Browns Kicker Chase McLaughlin is going to miss, but then boom. Good.

Kickers are supposed to make kicks, but McLaughlin finds his stock rising this week because of how important those points were, plus, they weren’t chip shots, either.

McLaughlin cashed in field goals of 48 and 53 yards this week, one week after knocking down four attempts, including two over 50 yards.

This game was obviously a weird game. More scoring was expected and Stefanski admitted as much when he explained why he didn’t go for a short field goal on the Browns’ first drive. He thought he’d be in a shootout.

McLaughlin gave the Browns a little breathing room and put all the pressure on the home team–pressure they couldn’t live up to.

McLaughlin doesn’t have the track record to just say “We’ve finally replaced Phil Dawson,” but so far, so good. His stock is rising and that’s all you can ask for from your young, inexperienced kicker.
