Wyatt Teller

If you’re a defensive player, the last person you want running you down is Wyatt Teller. At 6’4, and 315 pounds, Teller is one of the bigger guards in all of football. He isn’t some raw speedster, with a 40 time of just 5.24. He isn’t overly athletic for a guy his size, with his three-cone drill coming in dead average (7.45) but yet, somehow, he seems to move faster in pads.

They call it downhill running, the perception that a guy is moving faster than he normally should for some reason as if he was running downhill. This is a term used mostly for offensive players, as they’re always moving forward while having of the defense is backing up in reverse.

It’s true, too, as Teller seems to rip apart defenses with relative ease. He’s not going to get cute or fancy, just lower his head and shoulders and plow into an opposing player with relative ease. The destruction he causes is impressive, especially for an offensive lineman. There was a time in 2020 when he was a Top 10 candidate for MVP, which is a rarity.

He got hurt and didn’t manage to accomplish the feat of finishing that high in the MVP voting but the fact that his chaos-causing play got him that noticed is a sign of how brutal he is.
