Cleveland Browns: 5 future replacements for Odell Beckham Jr.
5. Cleveland Browns: He’s already here
Perhaps the best option to replace Odell Beckham Jr. already resides on the roster in Donovan Peoples-Jones or Anthony Schwartz.
DPJ’s missed the past couple of weeks with a groin injury, but should be back soon.
When I think of DPJ, I think of how he thrived last season after Odell went out with his knee injury. Remember, the Browns were in desperate need of help on the shores of the Ohio River and DPJ became the hero of the game, making the game winning touchdown catch.
No, he’s not as fast as Beckham, but still fast enough to help the Brown stretch the field and as we a saw in training camp, Mayfield has some sort of comfort factor in throwing to him.
Unfortunately, that chemistry hasn’t translated onto the field. Perhaps with Beckham gone, we’ll see the offense open up for DPJ, who had high expectations entering the season.
As for Schwartz, well, he looked like he’d be a rookie of the year candidate after his debut in Kansas City. Since then, he’s been lost int he mix.
The offense is desperate. Time for Stefanski to get new, hungrier players into the mix.
