6 Cleveland Browns whose stock is booming after Bengals beatdown
6. Cleveland Browns S John Johnson III
Wipe those eyes clean, because yes, the Cleveland Browns got some game changing plays form a safety on Sunday.
Fans have been wondering what the heck’s happened to the widely lauded signing of John Johnson III. Heck, we all thought Andrew Sendejo was wearing his uniform earlier in the season.
Johnson just wasn’t the same player…until Sunday. Johnson was part of the crew responsible for making life terrible for Ja’Marr Chase. Johnson, along with Denzel Ward and Greg Newsome were physical with Cincinnati’s big-time talent, causing the rookie to play the worst game of his young career.
Besides the pick, Johnson had a big hit on a Chase catch that caused a fumble.
All in all, his two plays turned into 13 points for the Browns.
Joe Woods had his secondary playing physical, pressing receivers and then laying some shots. Hopefully, this keeps Woods’ eyes open as to how the defensive backs should play.
This is a skilled group with big-time measurables. First-round picks. Big free-agent signings. Let them rough some players up and I think we’ll see more of what we saw in Cincinnati.
