The Good

Nick Chubb

You can’t argue that Nick Chubb wasn’t impressive. He easily would’ve had close to 200 yards if it wasn’t for all the holding penalties and personal fouls against the Browns offensive line. They easily cost him at least 50 yards.

The Defense

Malcolm Smith especially, who had a key third-down tackle, as well as an interception that helped turn the tide of the game in the first half. Denzel Ward also had an interception, his coming in the second half. Safe for a few big plays, the Browns defense largely did their job. Even if the Lions are lacking their starting quarterback in Jared Goff.

Baker Mayfield’s toughness

Baker Mayfield did not have a good game. No one on the Browns offense did besides Nick Chubb. Maybe it was the 58 injuries that Mayfield is playing with, maybe it was the weather, or maybe the Lions were just better defensively than expected. Regardless, the fact they were able to handle the Browns offensive, with or without the penalties, is not good. That said, Mayfield’s toughness should be commended. He has at least four obvious and severe injuries and he was playing in terrible weather. Playing in one of those conditions, severely injured and in bad weather, would be reason enough to give Mayfield a pass for the game. Yet, he’s playing in both. It doesn’t excuse his two interceptions but his toughness and determination can’t be ignored.
