5 Cleveland Browns whose stock went up in ugly Lions win
5. Cleveland Browns LG Joel Bitonio
His quarterback is hobbled, but Cleveland Browns left guard Joel Bitonio did his best to keep Baker Mayfield upright.
PFF gave him an outstanding grade of 90.9 after Bitonio didn’t allow one single pressure, hit, hurry or sack.
Bitonio deserves to be appreciated as much as the fan base loved Joe Thomas. The future Hall of Fame was a stalwart, earning a pristine reputation despite playing on some lousy Browns’ teams.
Bitonio’s seen plenty of losses as well, but he’s always someone you can count on. He recently played his 100th game and the Browns locked him up with a three-year extension.
Ray Farmer didn’t do a lot right in his brief time as GM, but plucking Bitonio, who played left tackle at Nevada, out of the second round of the draft, continues to pay dividends for the franchise.
OK, so I mentioned Thomas, which leads to the question: Is Bitonio putting together Hall of Fame credentials? It’s hard to say, especially since Thomas played left tackle, the most “glamorous” spot on the line, if you want to call it that.
That said, we’re in an era of football where you can quantify offensive line play and Bitonio consistently grades out as one of the best.
