Browns’ fans have much to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.

It’s been a long season for the Browns and their fans. A frustrating one.. Most games going down to the wire, a winning record we’re scrapping to keep in place, and all the while more media attention than ever before. It’s been awesome.

Fans may not remember just how bad the last near-two decades have been. How rough it’s been to see the foundation of each new era and each new team fail so constantly. Sure, we’re irritated we’re not 10-1 but that’s life. It happens. We’re still in the midst of one of the four best seasons the Browns have had since 1999.

So yeah, we have a lot to be thankful for and we’re going to go through them now.

5 Browns related things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving

Winning football

After so many years of wanting and trying, we finally have a football team that can actually win games. Multiple games in fact. While the season is teetering a .500 record, it’s always good to keep in mind the extremely lean days.

First world football problems

Complaining about a 6-5 team is very much a first-world football problem. Remember when the team was 1-31? Oh, I do. We’ve seen the turnaround and it is real. Yes, the Browns are struggling in 2021 but the team is riddled with injuries, so it’s really not a fair evaluation. So keep in mind the years of victory-poverty that the team found it in before you start wanting a return to those very bare bone years.

Getting to the playoffs

While this happened in the last season, the first playoff game was in 2021. It was 19 years prior when the Browns last went to the playoffs and ironically, it was against the same team both times. Considering how long we’ve waited, it feels good to finally have the first of hopefully many playoff births.

Nick Chubb’s brutal running ability

When talking Nick Chubb, it’s very interesting. Off the field, he’s very quiet and reserved, but on the field he runs like the T-1000, just looking for bodies to put down in his wake. I would describe Chubb’s running style simply as “rude”. He runs you over, doesn’t think twice about you, keeps going, and doesn’t even notice your broken body lying in his wake.

A competent quarterback

While Baker Mayfield may not be some people’s favorite person at the moment, I have to point out that he’s the best quarterback the team has had in 30 years and it’s lunacy to me that some people actually think it’d be easier to upgrade at that position. Mayfield has proven to be able to win us games when he’s not held together by duct tape and gorilla glue and should get a contract extension offer this offseason.
