Most Improved – Darius Garland/ Jarrett Allen

Another toss-up for the award and one that will surely divide voters is the Most Improved Award. Both Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen have proven that they deserve the award. They’re the two leading scorers on the team, with Garland putting up 19 points a game, with seven assists, and Allen putting up a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds per game.

Both have improved greatly from the year before, with Garland improving in every category but two; his three-point shooting is only slightly down from last year and his turnovers are up a bit more than you’d like to see. The same could be said for Allen, who’s only slightly down from blocks in the previous year and has a slightly down free-throw percentage. Everything else is up.

It’s not just their stats that have people buzzing about the duo, it’s also the act that they play incredibly well off of each other, with Garland and Allen bringing their own Lob City to Cleveland. Their ability to play off of one another in the offense is notable and may not have been completely possible if the team was constantly feeding Collin Sexton all the time.

Neither man really got to show what they could do in 2020-2021 due to the way the offense flowed through Sexton first, but without him in the lineup, the team does seem to have more of a steady flow, with more of a “next man up” mentality to them.
