3 non-trade options the Cavs should consider replacing Ricky Rubio with

Matthew Dellavedova
Joe Johnson is back in the NBA, why not Matthew Dellavedova? The Cavs could use some familiarity with the team and the scheme. Dellavedova played in it last year and while he was banged up and didn’t look good in the season, did show a lot of what fans fell in love with during the Olympics.
Currently, Dellavedova is playing for the National Basketball League’s Melbourne United. He’s not having an especially flashy season but he’s fourth on the team with 8.4 points per game and is leading the team with 5.4 assists per game in about 33 minutes of play. They’re 3-2 with Dellavedova leading the way as their point guard so it may not be a situation where the Cavs could even sign him.
The season is just underway, and there’s no real way to know if Dellavedova’s contract has an opt-out clause for the NBA like many other international leagues have. If they have an opt-out for NBA teams, then the Cavs should consider calling Dellavedova.
Even if the fan favorite isn’t a better option than someone like Kevin Pangos, at least you’ll have someone who can be a leader on the bench and in practice. Plus, if Pangos is the option to replace Rubio, then you’ll have someone who can replace Pangos as well.
Granted all of this is dependent on if the Cavs can even sign him. I’m sure if they float some money Melbourne United’s way, they may be open to letting him go.
