Leadership

Rajon Rondo is a largely well-respected player. Sure, he’s had a few dust-ups with Chris Paul and he wasn’t exactly a fan of Rick Carlise, though with recent reports about Carlise’s treatment of players in Dallas, namely Dennis Smith Jr., should we be surprised? During his time with Boston, he was respected by Kevin Garnett, which isn’t exactly an easy thing to become.

In Los Angeles, despite a reduced role, he was never a headache or a problem. Sure, Rondo was happy to go to a situation where he’d have more playing time, but who wouldn’t? In Cleveland, he has a lot of opportunities to influence the Cavaliers with his work effort. The man’s been to three NBA Finals and won two, so he clearly knows what it’s going to take to win a title.

While it’s a bit far-fetched to think that far ahead, these Cavs have to make the playoffs first, after all, you don’t acquire a guy like Rondo without thinking forward to the playoffs. He’s going to be able to give players some insight that they really only can get from Kevin Love. Plus there’s always “Playoff Rondo” to look forward to.
