2. Cleveland Browns C J.C. Tretter

If PFF is what moves your needle, then you’ll see J.C. Tretter’s grade of 79.4 and it doesn’t look so bad. Tretter’s mark was the third highest grade on the line, trailing just Joel Bitonio (93.6) and Wyatt Teller (84.4).

That said, it seemed Tretter had some issues later on the season, and I’ll shine the light on one play to point out my concerns: In the Raiders game, when Nick Chubb ran the ball on 4th and short–Tretter got blown up and it sunk the play.

Yes, yes, one play doesn’t define a season…but it was a BIG play.

Additionally, the Browns will need to consider Nick Harris, a former fifth-round pick who’s had time to develop on the bench. Harris’ has been around for two years now and he made his first start against the Packers on Christmas.

With Harris looking ready to step in, it seems Tretter’s salary, $7.9 million (and his $9.875 million cap number) is too high.

I’m not sure he’s a player the Browns want to disregard, though. He’s tough and oozes leadership. If the front office can get him to lower his number, the Browns should be thrilled to have him back.
